Florida 18 – T2 – Day 21 – French Quarter & Polynesian

Another lazy morning start. It actually wasn’t meant to be as we had Typhoon Lagoon on the plan, but when Barry finally got up he didn’t fancy it and we weren’t too fussed as it was our last full day so we thought we would save the tickets for another time.

Instead we chilled poolside and then made ourselves some early lunch. I also started gathering our things together for the dreaded travel home day tomorrow.

We headed out about 1pm to Disney Springs from where we caught the river boat to the French Quarter. It was a very pleasant 15 minute journey accompanied by Christmas songs interpreted in a Jazz style to match our destination.

At Port Orleans we wandered around and amazingly in the gift shop found the one item Barry had been searching for. So if for nothing else the trip was worthwhile.

From here we walked further along the river until we came to Riverside. Here we had another wander before buying some drinks which we had in the sun. When I checked the receipt afterwards I was pleased to discover they had charged me wrong in my favour – so thank you Mickey for the 2 free cups of tea!

It was then time to head back so we waited for a few minutes for the boat to arrive and had a lovely cruise back to Disney Springs. Karen had one final lot of freebies from the Ghirardelli store and then to Barry’s amazement purchased yet another Starbucks to take back with her.

After a couple of hours back in the Villa we headed out to Outback for our final meal. Karen & Barry both had ‘Kiwi Ritas’ with their meals to toast another lovely holiday and absent friends.

We then drove to the Polynesian Resort where we meandered for a bit before Karen & Barry decided to have another cocktail. Barry had his known as a ‘Lupa Lupa’ which was inside a whole pineapple which was really heavy to hold. It was a good job it was the last night because the cost would have made my eyes water any other time.

The whole resort is even more magical at night, being lit by fire torches with Hawaiian music playing in the background. I love this place.

Then it was time to stand on the beach of the resort to watch the Christmas Party fireworks that being held the other side of the lake at Magic Kingdom. They were spectacular and it is a terrific viewing point. A great way to finish a great trip. We all just wished that others could have been with us.

Back at the Villa, I was finally allowed to have an alcoholic drink so finished the evening by downing a large glass of Pinot Grigio.
